01 / 05Where the grille used to be: the intercooler, and polished pipework running back into the bay.

Most of the hilltop stop was spent looking at the view over the harbour. A good part of it was spent looking into this engine bay instead.
The pick-up pulled onto the gravel dark purple and low-key. Then the bonnet went up on a length of timber and stayed there. Up front, an intercooler fills the space where the grille used to be, with polished pipework running back into the bay, a blue silicone hose threaded through and red coil packs on the cam cover.
It drew the same reaction for the whole stop: phones out, heads under the bonnet, and a crowd that kept changing while the car didn’t move.
